A major subsidy-free solar farm project in North Wales has been sold.

TLT has advised Blackfinch Investments Limited, a leading renewable energy investor, on the acquisition of the project Lleyn Peninsula in Gwynedd.

The Llwyndyrus Solar Farm site, located near to Pwllheli,, has the planning consent, grid connection offer and option for lease in place for a 6MW development and was acquired through Blackfinch’s renewable energy investment entity, Sedgwick Trading.

Luminous Energy, an independent developer specialising in the planning and development of solar farms, is managing the development of the project.

Once operational the 11 acre site will provide renewable electricity to meet the needs of approximately 1,350 homes each year.

Guy Lavarack, investment director at Blackfinch, says: “This is the first of many projects in collaboration with TLT and Luminous Energy as we expect to add further subsidy-free solar developments to our portfolio. I look forward to continuing our work with both organisations as the project moves into the next phase of development."

Talking about the site, a Luminous spokesman said: "The proposals will facilitate three land uses where there was only one previously – sheep grazing, clean energy generation, and ecological services.

"It will add to the resilience of the local farming community while creating a meaningful contribution to local renewable energy generation."
