Student accommodation second phase in Salford Quays gets go-ahead

Phase two, which has a construction value of at least £30m, is set to include 457 student beds, communal and lounge spaces over 14,200 sq m of space

Planning permission for a 15-storey second phase of student accommodation in Salford Quays has been received, a construction firm has announced.

Blackpool-based Create Construction will build the second phase of its Discovery Quays project for property group Bricks Capital.

Phase two, which has a construction value of at least £30m, is set to include 457 student beds and communal and lounge spaces over 14,200 sq m of space.

Completion is due in the third quarter of 2022, Create said.

The completion of the development’s first phase, which has a contract value of around £27m, is due this month, ready to welcome this year’s student intake.

It comprises 402 student bedrooms over 14,500 sq m, situated close to MediaCityº£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Salford Quays.
