St Modwen adds £120m in sales as profit surges

Birmingham-based regeneration group says it has enjoyed an 'exceptional year' as progress continues on Midlands projects

St Modwen is behind the regeneration of the former MG Rover site in Longbridge

Regeneration group has added more than £120 million in sales and boosted pre-tax profit by almost £60 million.

The Birmingham-based plc, which is behind regeneration projects in Hednesford and Stratford among others, said today its Midlands pipeline for commercial development projects was growing fast and now represented around 1.5 million sq ft of space.

Sales for the year to December 2014 rose from £161.1 million to £282.1 million while pre-tax profit climbed by £57.2 million to £137.7 million.

Chief executive Bill Oliver said today: "This has been an exceptional year for St Modwen and we have achieved significant progress across all of our major projects as well as increasing our active pipeline of commercial development opportunities to over 3 million sq ft of space.

"The residential part of the business continues to perform well with good sales rates achieved throughout the year and we anticipate a sustained performance into 2015.

"Across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, we continued to grow the business, capitalising on the upturn in the regional property market and we look forward to continuing this level of success throughout the coming year."

Stephen Prosser, Midlands regional director for St. Modwen, added: "Our redevelopment of Longbridge is one of the largest regeneration projects outside of London.

"Here, we are making excellent progress in transforming this 468-acre former industrial site into a thriving mixed-use community.
