Sajid Javid has QUIT as Chancellor of the Exchequer in a shock move on reshuffle day.

Mr Javid reportedly left after he was ordered by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to sack his advisers. There have been previous reports of tensions between Mr Javid and the PM's adviser Dominic Cummings.

Mr Javid will be replaced by Rishi Sunak, Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

News agency PA has quoted a source close to Mr Javid saying: "He has turned down the job of Chancellor of the Exchequer.

"The Prime Minister said he had to fire all his special advisers and replace them with Number 10 special advisers to make it one team.

"The Chancellor said no self-respecting minister would accept those terms."
