Rural Development Programme for England launches grants for North Somerset companies

Funding is available for projects that improve agriculture, the environment and rural life

The Rural Development Programme for England has released a new round of funds for rural start-ups, businesses and social enterprises in North Somerset.

Grants are available for projects that improve agriculture, the environment and rural life such as improving buildings or buying new equipment.

Funding ranges from a minimum of £20,000 to a maximum of £750,000 and can meet up to 40 per cent of the project costs with the balance being provided by the applicant.

There are three types of fund available. These are:

Food processing

This is open to food and drink businesses that process agricultural or horticultural products.

Business development

For small business and start-ups, including farmers wishing to diversify into non-agricultural activities.
