Rugby World Cup chief takes Warwickshire CCC top job

Neil Snowball brings experience from organising 2015 rugby tournament and 2012 London Olympics to the hot seat at Edgbaston

Neil Snowball will become the chief executive of Warwickshire County Cricket Club in January

One of the key figures behind this year's Rugby World Cup and the 2012 London Olympics has been unveiled as the new chief executive of Warwickshire Country Cricket Club.

Neil Snowball will take over the top job at Edgbaston in January next month after almost a decade in the role.

Mr Snowball is currently chief operating officer of England Rugby 2015, the organising committee behind the 2015 Rugby World Cup which included games at Villa Park.

He was responsible for all aspects of delivery of the tournament including match venues, host cities, team services, security, transport and technology as well as managing multiple stakeholder partnerships.

Prior to his current role, he was head of sport operations at the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

In a similar role, he was responsible for service delivery and operational management for the 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports and 45 competition venues.

Before joining LOCOG, he spent eight years as an executive director at global investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Mr Snowball is a lifelong cricket fan and has been involved with Guildford Cricket Club for many years as a player, coach and administrator.
