Roger Lewis extends chairmanship of Cardiff Airport

A preferred successor has been identified but will not be in post until June

Roger Lewis Chairman of Cardiff Airport

Chairman of Cardiff Airport, Roger Lewis, has agreed to remain in his role until the end of May next year.

Mr Lewis earlier this year announced that he planned to step down on October 31st after four years in the role.

However, he has agreed to remain in post until next spring with his identified preferred successor planning to be in post from June.

The details of the appointment of the yet to be disclosed preferred candidate are being finalised, following a competitive recruitment process.

The Rhoose-based airport is owned by the Welsh Government.

Minister for the Economy and Transport, Ken Skates, said: "On behalf the Welsh Government I would like to record my gratitude for the great work Roger has done so far with the airport, and will now continue to do until June.

“I have no doubt that Roger will continue to bring his focus and leadership to this important role.”

Mr Lewis  added: “It has been an honour to be a part of such a dynamic team who have continuously delivered not just for Cardiff Airport, but for Wales.
