Ambitious new plans have been revealed for an historic hotel in Llangollen.

The owners of the Three Eagles restaurant and nearby luxury wedding venue Tyn Dwr Hall bought The Royal Hotel with Wrexham businessman Tom Bellis in March.

Last night Three Eagles group owner Matt Jones gave a presentation on the plans at a meeting in the town.

These include two plunge pools as part of a "super-structure" that will be cantilevered over the River Dee.

Above the pool/spa area, additional accommodation with private balconies will be created.

Decking will be extended and an opening in the riverside of the building will accommodate a new bar/bistro with bi-folding doors onto the decking.

Matt Jones said: “Over the last few months, we have already gone to great lengths to ensure that we fully understand this building and the many different phases of its construction throughout its history.

"Our team have a grand vision for creating a venue that people from afar will want to come and experience. The level of service and quality of venue will be something that hasn’t been seen in this region before.”
