Rich List 2015: No.22 - Andrew and Linda Leaver & family

are the biggest winners in this year’s Rich List following the impressive strides made by their Burton-on-Trent based pharmaceutical company Clinigen.

When Clinigen was floated on the AIM market in September 2012 it was hailed as one of the best stock market launches of the year. Since then profits have soared.

The £135 million flotation meant a windfall for Andrew and Linda Leaver .

They retained a £47 million stake in the group which Andrew Leaver, 51, formed in 2010, bringing together Keats Healthcare, Clinigen GAP and Clinigen SP.

In the 12 months to June 30, 2014, profits jumped by 47 per cent. The firm reported a profit of £21.3 million compared to £14.5 million the previous year. Revenue was up three per cent to £126.6 million.

The trend continued for the rest of the year with revenues to the end of December up 17 per cent to £72.6 million. Gross profit was up by 11 per cent and net cash more than doubled to £12.9 million.

In the year Clinigen shipped 58,000 units of drugs to more than 75 countries – an 87 per cent increase which has come off the back of growth in exisiting programmes and new programmes.
