A trade body which represents rail firms across the Midlands has called on whoever wins the General Election to deliver on major infrastructure projects.

Rail Forum Midlands has launched its own manifesto, which lists a number of key asks.

The forum is made up of more than 200 rail sector supply chain firms across the West and East Midlands. It's based in Derby, which is thought to have one of the largest concentrations of companies involved in the rail sector in the world.

The manifesto calls on whoever wins next month’s General Election to follow through on major rail projects, including HS2 and Crossrail 2.

It makes four key points. The first calls for a commitment to rail playing a major role in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ government’s de-carbonisation and clean air agendas.

It also calls for the completion of HS2 and Midlands Engine Rail in full, together with other regional priorities, such as Northern Powerhouse Rail and Crossrail 2.

It asks for a commitment to publish a long-term plan for infrastructure renewals and enhancements, as well as a future rolling stock strategy.
