Hull brewery Atom Beers is the toast of the Humber region’s Great Taste Awards 2023 success.

The company’s Quantum State session IPA has taken a two star rating in the prestigious food and drink accolades, renowned for their rigorous judging process. It tops a list of exquisite food and drink producers in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire recognised for their flavoursome offerings.

The popular brewery, now with bars in Hull and Beverley, was founded almost a decade ago by scientists Allan Rice and Sarah Thackray.

He said it was not just a win for Atom, but “for Hull and the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's craft beer scene as a whole” adding it was a “clear indication of Atom Beers' unwavering commitment to excellence and their ability to deliver outstanding beers time and again”.

Quantum is a 4.2 per cent slightly hazy gluten free pale ale and is described as being packed with tropical fruit, zesty citrus with a ‘west coast bite’. Judges described it as "beautifuly balanced and eminently drinkable".

Sharing the two-star stage is Seaton Ross’ St Helen’s Farm with its semi-skimmed goat’s milk. The East Yorkshire agricultural business also got single stars for its whole goat’s milk, mild and mature goat’s cheese and goat’s butter.
