A Bristol marine ecology charity has been named one of the most progressive companies to work for in the world.

The Reef-World Foundation - the international coordinator of sustainable tourism initiative Green Fins - was selected from thousands of companies across the globe.

The organisation ranked 16 on the Escape 100 list, which aims to find the best companies to escape to in 2019, and was given a rating of 10 out of 10.

Despite being a small charity with only five full-time members of staff, Reef-World operates on a global scale by training and supporting teams across the world.

The charity’s Green Fins initiative aims to protect reefs by encouraging environmentally friendly diving and snorkelling, and is currently operating Antigua and Barbuda, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives, Palau, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Chloe Harvey, director at The Reef-World Foundation, said: “As a small charity, we were surprised to say the least when we found out we’d been selected as one of the top 100 companies to work for – especially considering the number of entries and stiff competition.

“We’re so pleased to have been recognised by Escape The City for our team’s passion for the ocean and hard work in protecting coral reefs for future generations.

“As the charity grows [we] hope our mission and ethos will resonate with other motivated individuals. I’d like to say a huge well done to the team.”
