The development arm of Northumberland County Council has launched a recruitment drive as it increases building work across the region.
Advance Northumberland is creating 12 new roles as it expands its workforce as part of a growth strategy. The company is on the hunt for site managers, property maintenance, commercial surveying and ecology staff to fill roles spanning multiple parts of the business, including its housing development arm, Ascent Homes, and its wider asset and maintenance operations.
Advance Northumberland is behind a number of regeneration schemes in the county, including the Market Pavilion in Blyth’s town centre. Built on the site of Blyth’s former central cinema and music hall, the new venue includes a three-screen cinema operated by Jam Jar Cinema, a lounge bar, cafe and Studio 25 – a flexible performance and event space.

The business is also driving forward improvements in Ashington town centre, which will include a new Reel Cinema.
Elsewhere, work has this month started to build nine bungalows at New Hartley near Seaton Delaval, which will be owned by Northumberland County Council and rented out at an affordable rate to local people in housing need.
Steven Harrison, CEO at Advance Northumberland, said the roles are part of the company’s continued investment in quality homes, sustainable placemaking and the maintenance of assets across the county.
Mr Harrison said: “We have a newly established five-year business plan, which is aligned with the County Council’s vision for Northumberland. Our strategy focuses on delivering real impact - not only in South East Northumberland but across the entire county, from Berwick to Rothbury and across to Haltwhistle.
“We are committed to driving inclusive economic growth through a broad range of development initiatives, from housing to commercial investment.
