A rat infested housing development site in Wrexham where work was halted after the financial crash in 2007 is finally set to be developed.

Harron Homes started the project at Heol Berwyn, Cefn Mawr, but it was left unfinished following the collapse of the housing market - with only one home completed.

As the years progressed it was considered a ‘blight on the community’ - having become rodent infested and a target for anti-social behaviour.

But Wales & West Housing bought the site and recently secured planning for 34 affordable homes.

Now Anwyl Partnerships, specialists in the provision of residential land and build developments, has been a awarded the £5.2million development project.

Work will start in June and once complete the homes will be available for rent.

Tom Anwyl, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships, said: “We continue to work in partnership with Wales & West Housing, delivering homes in areas across North Wales identified as needing additional housing stock.

“This project will have a far reaching social and environmental impact not only by providing much needed homes for rent, but redeveloping a site originally earmarked for housing that’s unfortunately falling into an ever increasing state of decay.
