Work to open up a further phase of a Hull business park is set to begin.

The £6 million project to unlock Priory Park East is expected to pave the way for major inward investment, with the creation of up to 280 jobs eyed for the 12 remaining acres closest to the city centre.

More than three quarters of it has enterprise zone status, with hopes of attracting £25 million from the private sector, adding 15,600 sq m of new commercial floor space.

To enable it, and handle the anticipated traffic uplift, Priory Way is to be widened, with Arco's National Distribution Centre already a focal point, with Evans Halshaw's motor village and The Village Hotel also prominent features.

Preparation work has been taking place over the past five weeks, with Monday to see phase one begin.

It will involve the building of a new retaining wall along the edge of the Sainsbury’s and Homebase car park. It will allow an additional northbound lane and a shared-use footway to be created on Priory Way, to handle movements from the A63.

This phase is expected to last five weeks, with all work undertaken from the car park.
