The partnership behind a £1.4bn project to “transform” an “under-used” area opposite Manchester Piccadilly station has submitted plans for a 13-storey office building.
Mayfield Partnership, a public-private venture comprised of LCR, Manchester city council, Transport for Greater Manchester and regeneration specialist U+I, submitted initial plans for 'phase one' of the development earlier this month.
The 244,000 sq ft office building, called The Poulton, will sit at the heart of the development, the partnership said.
The building, named after George Poulton, a promoter of public health at Mayfield Public Baths in the 1850s, is set to feature green, landscaped roof terraces and views of the new six-and-a-half acre Mayfield Park around the River Medlock.
Morris + Company are the architects of the building.
The submitted mark the conclusion of the phase one planning application process.
The partnership has already submitted proposals for a 70,000 sq ft tech-hub office building, a 543-space multi-storey car park and a six-and-a-half acre public park, set to be the first to be built in Manchester city centre in 100 years.

If plans are given the green light, work on 'phase one' is due to start in mid-2020.
The partnership said the Mayfield regeneration has the potential to provide 1,500 homes, 155,000 sq m of office space, a 650-bedroom hotel, retail and leisure space, and create more than 10,000 office, retail, leisure and construction jobs.
