Plans to create more than 500 student bedrooms on a former Nottingham textiles site have been given the go-ahead.
Jensco (Nottingham) has been given the green light by Nottingham City Council to build the £35 million scheme on a brownfield site in Traffic Street.
The developer, a subsidiary of Jensco Group, intends to create a total of 522 bedrooms and studios across two buildings containing 163 studio apartments and 62 cluster flats.

The rooms will have en-suites and the cluster flats would range from four to seven rooms with a shared lounge/kitchen area. The two apartment blocks will be served by 235 cycle spaces.
The land the development will be built on previously had commercial uses, including a textile mill and warehouse.
The site has largely been flattened and has most recently been used as a surface car park.
The application was passed by the city council’s planning committee after an officer’s report recommended the scheme be approved.
The development will form part of the £2 billion Southern Gateway scheme between the city centre and the Meadows.

It will neighbour the Vantage building - another purpose-built student accommodation block, construction of which is well underway.
Previously, the developer behind the project, Nigel Bobroff, Jensco Group director, said: “Nottingham City Council figures show that there are around 18,000 students living in family homes that have been converted to provide student housing in the city’s residential neighbourhoods.
"This development will help to free up these much-needed houses, whilst regenerating an important part of the city.”
Jensco Group specialises in the delivery of property development projects nationwide. In recent years, another of its subsidiaries, Jensco (Derby), delivered the Agard Court student accommodation development in Derby city centre.
