A developer has been given the go ahead to build 15 homes near Dursley in Gloucestershire.

Piper Homes said the project - set for a site off Tilsdown Road (A4135) in the village of Cam - would include a range of two-to-four- bedroom properties.

All designed by Gloucester-based Quattro Design Architects, two of the dwellings will be classified as affordable rentals, while two houses will be available under shared ownership, in a bid to help buyers looking to move onto or up the property ladder.

Michaela Eaves, senior planning manager at Piper Homes, said preparations were being made for work to start “later this year”, with the aim of welcoming the first occupants “next summer”.

The scheme - known as Tilsdown Gardens - will be West Midlands-based Piper Homes’ eighth development, in and around the Cotswolds, with the group previously working on an award-winning residential development in Upper Rissington, near Bourton-on-the Water.

The company said the two storey detached and semi-detached homes proposed for Tilsdown Gardens, would be “in keeping” with the local architecture, featuring “traditional features brought up to date for the modern homeowner”.

Landscaped green areas and a play area for future and existing residents will also be delivered.

Ms Eaves said: “We’re really proud of our plans for Tilsdown Gardens, believing they answer the local need for beautifully-designed, high quality family homes.
