A huge new residential development of 950 homes and an expansive public green space is being planned near Bristol.

The North Warmley proposals are currently open for public opinion, with developers promising a 'significant extension' to Warmley Forest Park.

Bloor Homes South West says the majority of the site in Warmley, equivalent to around 42 football pitches, will be converted into accessible open space. The land is presently privately owned.

The rest of the site will accommodate up to 950 new homes, including 'affordable and age-friendly housing', according to the plans.

The proposals also include a new local centre featuring shops, a cafe虂, workspace, nursery and a sustainable transport hub.

Mike Kerton, planning director at Bloor Homes South West, said: "Our proposals put green space first and create a place that works for people, nature and the wider community.Sign up to receive daily news updates and breaking news alerts straight to your inbox for free here."

"For centuries, this land has been under private ownership. Now, there is an opportunity for new public open space accessible to everyone for the first time.

"The development is shaped by the landscape and designed to deliver long-term benefits, from the significant extension of Warmley Forest Park to community facilities and workspace available to everyone.

"We're keen to hear from local people during this consultation to make sure the new neighbourhood, especially the new public open space, reflects what matters most to Warmley residents."

The proposed development site is situated to the north of Warmley, bordered by the A420, Webbs Heath, and Goose Green.

Developers are promising a "connected landscape of habitats and open spaces", which will include wetlands, woodlands, wildflower meadows, and expansive green corridors.

Plans for the site are moving forward with an outline planning application expected to be submitted this summer, and a public consultation set to commence later in the month.

Residents can provide their input at two in-person drop-in events scheduled at Kingsmeadow Made4Ever on Monday, May 12 from 2-7pm and Tuesday, May 13 from 9.30am-1.30pm.

Should the project receive the green light, construction is anticipated to start in spring 2029, with the completion of the final home targeted for winter 2039.
