Plans for 155 Devon homes at village site acquired by housebuilder

Allison Homes South West said the proposed development in Witheridge could be its ‘biggest’ in the region to date

A housebuilder has acquired land in Devon where it plans to build 155 new homes.

Allison Homes South West said the proposed development in the village Witheridge, which is around 10 miles west of Tiverton, would be its biggest to date.

The company said the project, called Willow Heights, would consist of a mix of two to five bedroom houses and two to three-bedroom detached bungalows. Nearly a third of the whole development - 50 properties - will be also classed as affordable housing.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Subject to planning, work on the development is expected to start later this year.

Matt Bennett, managing director at Allison Homes South West, said: “We’re very excited to announce that completion has taken place on our biggest and latest development in the region. We’re looking forward to investing in the area and bringing much-needed, high-quality homes to the beautiful village of Witheridge.”

Mr Bennett added that the company was “dedicated” to creating homes for local people, including first-time buyers and young families.

According to census data. the population of Witheridge - which is located between the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks - is a little more than 1,000 people.
