Michelin star restaurant has undergone its biggest refurbishment in a decade amid a for the city’s food scene.
The Edgbaston restaurant retained its Michelin star when the guide was published last week, along with newcomer .
The city food scene has never been so strong, and Simpsons chef patron has invested to extend the restaurant and spruce up the decor.
It comes after the Post revealed plans for the on Waterloo Street.
He said the Grade II-listed property was overdue some work as it had been ten years since the last major refurbishment.
He said: “We’ve extended the dining room so that it is one big room rather than a collection of rooms.
“Simpsons looks more modern, crisper, and more contemporary.”
Simpsons is renowned for the culinary superstars it has produced under the tutelage of chef patron Andreas, including Glynn Purnell, Simpsons chef director Luke Tipping and Andy Waters.

Since the mid-90s, Luke and Andreas created a formidable culinary partnership and earlier this month they announced Nathan Eades, former chef owner of Epi at The Courtyard in Bromsgrove as Simpson’s new head chef.
“The refurbishment has been a huge undertaking but I’m very happy with the changes,” said Andreas.
“Along with Nathan’s appointment, it’s a new era at Simpsons. The style of dishes has stayed the same but with a different presentation. It all underlines our ambition to remain at the forefront of Birmingham’s dining scene.”
