Pharmaceutical group Chiesi scores with B Corp status

Chiesi, the global pharmaceutical group with its º£½ÇÊÓÆµ head office in Manchester, will be pumping its profits into good causes after it was awarded a B Corp certification in its 25th year.

Companies with this status use profits and growth for a greater good and have a positive impact for their employees, community and the environment.

The family owned business first started in a small laboratory in Parma, Italy, in 1935.

The group now operates across the globe in 28 countries, including the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, with licensee arrangements in 59 others.

Its º£½ÇÊÓÆµ affiliate, Chiesi has been based in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ for 25 years with its head office based near Manchester Airport.

It is one of the strongest performing businesses within the group in terms of revenues which reached £262m last year.

The company employs more than 400 people in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, with 180 of them based out of its Wythenshawe site.

To achieve the B Corp status, the company was externally assessed across a range of criteria to become the largest global pharma group to achieve the certification.
