OWC2020 to showcase Humber's renewables 'prowess and innovation'

Major regional offshore wind conference dates, venues and lead sponsor confirmed as countdown to May launches

The dates are set for Offshore Wind Connections 2020.

UPDATE: This event has rescheduled to September 9/10 with venues TBC following coronavirus outbreak

The dates for Offshore Wind Connections 2020 have been announced with a new venue for the leading regional industry conference and exhibition.

The Aura Innovation Centre and Ergo building at Bridgehead Business Park, Hessle, will provide the space on May 13 and 14 in a move from the previous hotel and theatre-based conferences.

Organised by Team Humber Marine Alliance, it attracts hundreds of delegates and has grown year-on-year since starting in North Lincolnshire in 2011.

In addition to many from the area, with Grimsby and Hull at the forefront of the industry’s development in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, delegates come from Europe, the USA and the Far East in a bid to do business with the region.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been announced as this year’s diamond sponsor, having been a strong supporter of OWC since its inception – which coincided with a key decision on the blade factory’s arrival.

The company also has teams embedded with Grimsby-based Orsted as providers of the turbines it operates, while it runs the town's first farm, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, alongside Exceco on North Quay.

Mark O’Reilly, chief executive of Team Humber Marine Alliance, said that OWC 2020 – supported by regional partners – would showcase the Humber’s renewables prowess and innovation.
