The NSPCC has become a patron of Grimsby鈥檚 inspiration-providing Projekt Renewable box park.
The childrens鈥 charity is now looking to commission work on bringing its own container to life at the Alexandra Dock site, where career opportunities in green energy are to be showcased, fostering aspiration about the potential for individuals on their own doorstep.
Phase one arrived in August with work ongoing ahead of launch. The plan was first revealed late last year, having been worked up between industry and the local authority.

Childhood project, we鈥檙e invested in building community capacity so families can thrive 鈥 to do that, we need to work together to build the knowledge and awareness of what鈥檚 possible and ensure inclusive access to the right knowledge, learning and skills building for the whole community.

It looks set to join the first trio of containers, with RWE, Myenergi and a creative studio set to inhabit those now being fitted, with plans to introduce virtual reality immersive learning and understanding of Grimsby鈥檚 great green industry - often hidden away on docks, at sea and in factories.
Projekt鈥檚 director, Richard Askam, said: 鈥淚鈥檓 beyond thrilled to be able to say we鈥檙e welcoming the NSPCC to Projekt Renewable Grimsby. For me, this addition highlights the amazing response we鈥檝e had to Projekt so far - and that鈥檚 before we鈥檝e even officially opened the doors!
鈥淭o have a national organisation, such as the NSPCC, eager to be involved, clearly seeing the merit in our box park approach to help improve awareness of opportunities that already exist, just validates everything we鈥檝e been hoping to achieve. If any other organisations out there feel the same, there is still more room for containers to be commissioned, but be quick!鈥
Conversations have been held with Homes England, The Crown Estate, Catch and Grimsby 2025 as work continues beside Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Solar power is being added, while The Studio also takes shape, bringing podcast production provision for schools and the community.
Docks Beers and Mockingbird Streetfood have been confirmed as event caters, with a first thank-you gathering to take place next week for initial patrons and investors, with Phase Two details to be shared.
