Demand for rooms in Birmingham has soared to a record high with almost nine out of 10 taken on an average night.
Latest data shows an average occupancy of 85 per cent in the quarter to November, which represents a 鈥 and will likely interest developers.
It comes was work takes place on the giant , while the Post has reported plans for an 18-storey on Broad Street, an and .
The figures, from STR Global, are also a boost to hopes of the historic being brought back to life.
Analysis from the Marketing Birmingham Regional Observatory shows the new peak in occupancy follows a previous high in September 2014, which saw an average of 82 per cent.
The average room rate for November also increased, by 拢8 year on year, to 拢65.
Emma Gray, director of marketing services at Marketing Birmingham, said events in the latter part of last year including the Frankfurt Christmas Market, BBC Good Food Show and Classic Motor Show helped to attract visitors.
She said: 鈥淭hese latest record hotel occupancy figures are incredibly positive for the region鈥檚 economy, and particularly its growing hotel scene. Building on a previous ten year high in September, they demonstrate continuing growth for Birmingham鈥檚 hotels.
鈥淲ith so much planned this year, we are confident the region will attract more national and international visitors than ever before, providing our tourism business with a very real boost.

With the arrival of significant visitor developments 鈥 including the Resorts World leisure and entertainment complex and Grand Central shopping centre 鈥 and a number of Birmingham鈥檚 landmark attractions celebrating anniversaries, there is much more to explore in Birmingham in 2015.鈥
The date showed a marked rise in weekday occupancy rates, which were up 5.1 per cent on year the final quarter of 2013.
