New plans for £11m Ridley House development

Project will see 71 apartments built in a building which 'floats' and join neighbours The Cube and The Mailbox

Dozens of homes will be created in the shadow of The Cube after new proposals were submitted.

A total of 71 homes are proposed in a £11 million scheme at Ridley House, on the corner of Ridley Street and Washington Street.

Seven Capital plans a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments for the plot bought from RBS's investment arm West Register.

Managing director Phil Carlin said: "This is very close to The Cube and The Mailbox and all those amenities round there. The Cube has been a roaring success. It is a real destination.

"This is already a great place to live and, with Brockton's new vision for The Mailbox about to be revealed, we are confident this area will become even more desirable."

Bob Ghosh, of K4 Architects, is the architect behind the scheme.

He said the building would "float" on concrete columns and will complement The Cube well.

He added: "The Cube is a significant building so the worst thing you could do is challenge that in any way.
