New jobs and high salaries helps Manchester split Oxford and Cambridge in º£½ÇÊÓÆµ tech list

High levels of funding, jobs and salaries have helped Manchester be named as the second regional tech city in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.

New analysis for the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s Digital Economy Council by Dealroom and the smarter job search engine Adzuna has placed the city in second spot, behind Cambridge and ahead of Oxford.

According to the figures, Manchester companies raised £170m in funding in 2020, which has increased to £209m in 2021.

Some of the biggest rounds this year were from Telecom Group (£63m), Peak (£45m) and Orka Technology (£29m).

There are nearly 10,000 available job opportunities in Manchester, according to the data, a 164% increase from last year’s figures, with an average advertised salary of £52,144.

Other cities in the top ten of the Levelling Up Power Tech League 2021 include Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, Cardiff and Belfast.
