Sir Richard Branson's luxury island of Necker awaits a Black Country firm after it won a national business pitching competition.

Paint 360, which re-engineers waste paint so it can be used again, has won the Impact Award which is run by Virgin group.

The firm's prize includes an all-expenses trip to Necker Island in the Caribbean for the 'Leadership Gathering' event next year along with mentoring, workshops and the chance to pitch to the Virgin Impact team for investment.

Managing director Lee Cole said: "This is a fantastic opportunity as there is so much to learn from people like Richard Branson.

"I feel honoured by the award. It isn't often you get a chance to make money and do the right thing but that is what we do."

Mr Cole and his business partner David Francis established Paint 360 three years ago when they spotted a niche in the market for a company to re-engineer paint left at household recycling centres for use in the construction industry.

Since then, it has recycled more than 800 tonnes of paint.

Sandwell-based Paint 360 has 14 staff and was hailed by judges for producing high-quality paint containing 80 per cent recycled content and having an impressive business model.
