Northern Ireland’s international reputation for natural beauty is riding high across the globe, according to a global survey designed to evaluate each nation’s brand.
The province scored a ranking of 24 out of 60 countries in the Nations Brands Index survey, the highest score achieved by the province since it was first included in the ranking in 2016.
Northern Ireland’s reputation is strongest in North America, the Ƶ and the European Union, with the US the only region to rank the region in the top 20 nations. China, meanwhile, ranked Northern Ireland 58 th out of 60 countries while Japan gave it its lowest score, suggesting work boost the region’s image in east Asia is needed.
Once again natural beauty was Northern Ireland’s strongest attribute, with the province scoring 5.26 out of a possible seven while “Invest in Business” was the lowest scoring attribute with 4.07.
Unsurprisingly, those who had visited or had “digital exposure” to these shores were more likely to score it highly.
The ‘Anholt Ipsos Nation Brands Index: 2022 report for Northern Ireland’ is an annual global survey which attempts to evaluate the international image and reputation of 60 nations across six dimensions of national competence: Exports; Governance; Culture; People; Tourism; and Immigration and Investment. The 2022 NBI involved the completion of over 60,000 online surveys, in 20 panel countries, with at least 3,000 people surveyed per panel country.
