Vast building, covering around 2.5 acres, is big enough to house four football pitches, 2,400 Minis or 450 double decker buses and can accommodate most aircraft in its two bays

 

A new multi-million pound aircraft maintenance hangar which has created 300 engineering jobs at has been unveiled.

The 110,000 sq ft facility was opened today, Tuesday, by Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited (MAEL), the maintenance division of The Group.

The vast building, covering around 2.5 acres, is big enough to house four football pitches, 2,400 Minis or 450 double decker buses and can accommodate most aircraft in its two bays.

It is one of the first to have the capacity for Boeing 787 Dreamliner maintenance.
