Plans have been unveiled for a new housing development in Stockport, with Miller Homes proposing to build 125 properties on farmland off Moor Lane in Woodford. The planning reports submitted to Stockport Council describe the area as an 'obvious location' for such a development due to its proximity to various services and facilities.

It says Bramhall Local Centre, which offers a range of amenities including restaurants, banks, convenience stores, cafés, post offices and a supermarket, is approximately 1.3km to the north. To the southeast lies the consented Local Centre at Woodford Garden Village, which has permission for a convenience store, commercial units and flexible commercial space.

The proposed site is near the A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road, providing easy access towards Manchester city centre. The development plans include around 125 homes, open spaces and landscaping, with access from Moor Lane.

The report also mentions that the nearest rail stations to the site are in Poynton and Bramhall, both served by Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent. The developer is currently seeking pre-application advice, with an outline planning application for the proposed development soon to be submitted.

In Stockport, Harrow Estates unveiled plans in January for a significant expansion of the Woodford Garden Village. The proposal includes the construction of over 500 properties across 35 hectares of green belt land in the village.

The development will comprise a variety of one and two-bedroom flats, along with three, four and five-bedroom houses. Half of these proposed homes are set to be categorised as affordable housing, offering social rent and affordable ownership options.
