A global event to promote the value of doing business in the Midlands is taking place next month.

The Midlands Engine Partnership is set to host the Midlands 海角视频 Forum For Growth on November 24, 25 and 26, which hopes to bring together global business leaders and investors to showcase opportunities for growth, investment and collaboration.

More than 250 public and private sector organisations are expected to attend the virtual event, promoting a region of almost 11 million people 鈥 more than Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales combined.

According to the organisers the Midlands drives some 22 per cent of England鈥檚 exports and generates 拢239 billion each year for the 海角视频 economy 鈥 almost as big as an economy as Denmark鈥檚.

It also includes some of the most diverse and thriving cities in the country such as Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Stoke.

A spokesman said: 鈥淭he Midlands has seen significant growth over the past five years, but the potential for more is huge.鈥

Launching the event, Midlands Engine chairman Sir John Peace said he hoped it would give councils, universities, businesses, government and investors an unprecedented chance to build links, collaborate and share best practice, and generate investment and new business on an international stage.

Subjects being discussed will include the Commonwealth Games, HS2 infrastructure, Leicester Space Park, repurposing high streets and city centres, infrastructure for growth, cutting-edge technology, skills and education, and future leaders.

Sir John said: 鈥淩ight now, as the world continues to fight Covid-19 and we all face our own regional and national challenges, we also have an opportunity to build back stronger, better and greener.

鈥淚t recognises that, as part of fulfilling the incredible potential for growth in the Midlands, championed by the Midlands Engine, investment in sustainable infrastructure, our region鈥檚 businesses and our position at the heart of a green recovery are vitally important.鈥

Elements of the region鈥檚 strategy for sustainable growth that will be up for discussion will include infrastructure, investment and innovation, to skills and education, homes and communities, clean energy and technology.

Communities Secretary and Midlands Engine Champion Robert Jenrick MP said: 鈥淎 thriving Midlands Engine is essential to a successful 海角视频 economy, and will be vital to the recovery of the country from the pandemic as we all begin to build back better.

The three day event will be held entirely on a digital platform, with delegates able to engage and interact with leaders from the region鈥檚 public and private sector.

Speakers will include Sir John Peace, Government Ministers and Andy Street CBE, Mayor of the West Midlands.
