A Midland housing provider has been recognised as the most improved not-for-profit organisation in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ as it scooped a place on the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies list.

The best companies list was revealed at a ceremony with scooping the Best Improver Award as it made it onto the list for the first time.

To gain its ranking of 79th whg’s colleagues were surveyed on everything from their perceptions of the company and its management to how their personal growth is supported. The company was then scored based on those results.

The housing provider’s award and place on the best companies list comes shortly after it was awarded the Gold Standard from Investors in People (IIP) which is a national standard to recognise excellence in people management practices.

Theresa Huburn, Head of People and Learning at whg, said: “We are delighted to be recognised as the most improved not-for-profit organisation in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ as we gain a place on the list for the first time. We have been told that our improvement since last year was ‘phenomenal’.

“This endorsement from The Sunday Times is especially important because we know that we had a fantastic return rate with 83 per cent of our colleagues taking part.”

A number of measures introduced over the last year to ensure continued colleague development include a mentoring scheme which features 30 internal mentors matched with more junior colleagues in the organisation.

In the list’s Fair Deal category whg made it into the top 16 of medium-sized organisations, while in the My Manager category it came in 39th place.
