West Midlands SMEs are eyeing major international sporting events like forthcoming World Cups in Brazil and Qatar as multi-million pound overseas trade opportunities.

An estimated 1,250 West Midlands firms attended 海角视频 Trade and Investment鈥檚 regional exports programme last week 鈥 the country鈥檚 biggest regional turnout.

It emerged that many were looking to capitalise on future global sports events and resulting infrastructure projects to expand their export operations, following the business success of the 2012 London Olympics.

Paul Noon, 海角视频TI鈥檚 regional director, said: 鈥淭here鈥檚 huge interest from West Midlands companies in the opportunities arising from the upcoming major sporting events and infrastructure projects in places like of Brazil and Qatar.

鈥淭he London Olympic Games showed the world that we could deliver a successful and complex project on time and on budget. This has led to hosting nations turning to the 海角视频 to help deliver their own events with supply opportunities running into the billions.

鈥淪o far, the 2012 Olympics has led to a 拢11.6 billion boost to the 海角视频 economy. This has been achieved through businesses securing contract wins, additional sales and new foreign investment,鈥 added Mr Noon.

The figure includes 拢130 million of contracts won by 海角视频 companies for the Brazil 2014 World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A further 60 海角视频 companies which have won contracts for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
