Four key appointments have been made by Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership to steer work in key aspects of the regional economy.

Board members of the new entity have been selected to lead on key elements as it gets up and running following the government’s insistence on single membership - leading to the disbanding of its pan-Humber predecessor.

Deputy chair Stephen Parnaby OBE, former East Riding Council leader and now business development director at Wren Kitchens, will chair the Infrastructure Board.

It will look at future investment opportunities for the region as well as have a focus on transport and placed-based property developments and bring together government agencies, where required, to expedite these developments.

Prof Susan Lea, vice chancellor at University of Hull, becomes chair of the Innovation and Transformation Board, a new addition to the region’s governance, focusing on promoting and sharing innovation within the business community and using the academic and research strengths there. It will also identify major projects or technologies, which could transform the region and ensure these opportunities are developed.

Jayne Adamson, people director at Humber Coast and Vale Partnership, is to chair Employment and Skills, and Gill Alton OBE, chief executive of TEC Partnership, will lead Business Support.

The LEP is now , with applications open to anyone with valuable experience, to help shape the economic direction of Hull and East Yorkshire.

The creation of the sub-boards comes after the LEP appointed the Business Engagement Board as its key private sector advisory partner.
