A major wind farm project in Wales has been acquired. The 25MW Upper Ogmore Wind Farm and energy storage project in Bridgend has been bought by Japanese global trading and investment company, Marubeni.

The wind farm, located near Blaengarw and Nant-y-Moel, has been acquired from independent renewable energy firm RES. Welsh Ministers approved the scheme in 2022 which was the first onshore wind project to be considered under the Developments of National Significance planning process.

RES, which has developed five onshore wind farms in Wales since the 1990s, had been progressing proposals for the seven-turbine wind farm and energy storage project since 2017 from its Cardiff office.
