Rohan Kallicharan, a recruitment consultant at Reed Accountancy, in Edgbaston, decided to raise money for the National Autistic Society by taking part in the Great Manchester Run.
The name certainly has a familiar ring to it, especially in Edgbaston, so The Birmingham Post rang the NAS to ask: “Is Rohan, by any chance, related to the legendary West Indies captain and Warwickshire batsman Alvin Kallicharran?”
“Yes,” came the reply. “Rohan is his son.”

So how come Rohan’s surname has one ‘r’, while his dad’s has two?
Turns out Alvin overindulged while celebrating the birth of Rohan and was a little bit tipsy when he went to register his son’s name - and ended up spelling it wrong.
For the record, 33-year-old Rohan, a Moseley RFC and Liverpool FC fan, ran the 10k Manchester event in one hour, one minute.
