Jaguar Land Rover has launched an investigation after a worker was crushed by a Jaguar F-Type body shell on the production line at the car-maker’s Castle Bromwich plant.

The worker, who has not been named, was working on a section where F-Type bodies and engines are combined when the car body fell on him.

The accident took place just after 9.40am on Monday August 17 when assembly workers had returned to work following their morning break.

One worker at the plant, who asked not to be named, told the Post it took 20-30 workers to lift the car body from the injured man, who was given first-aid treatment by colleagues before being treated by paramedics and rushed to Heartlands Hospital.

Although no information has been released regarding his condition the worker’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

One worker told the Post: “A Jaguar operator was working under the car and the car dropped on his head, he’s now in hospital.

“There have been no updates for us but hopefully he’s well.

“It took 20-30 lads to lift the car up.”
