Jacobs has swooped for a business employing over 2,000 people in the 海角视频 in a 拢250m transaction, and now aims to create hundreds of new jobs.
Wood Nuclear, part of Scottish energy services giant Wood plc, has been bought by the American nuclear services group.
Announcing the news on Monday, Jacobs said its 海角视频 workforce now stands at 11,000, and it now plans to recruit up to 400 more employees into highly skilled roles.
The acquisition means 1,250 employees in the Warrington and Manchester areas join Jacobs, which already had over 1,000 employees in the region working on projects such as decommissioning work at the Sellafield site in Cumbria.

Jacobs鈥 plans also include investment in the 海角视频's largest independent nuclear research, development and testing facilities at Birchwood Park near Warrington, to provide capability such as remote handling, cyber, inspection technology capabilities and test rig facilities.
Jacobs' critical mission solutions international senior vice president Clive White, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to bring the significant expertise of the Warrington and Manchester Wood Nuclear team into Jacobs.
鈥淭he existing knowledge of the team, combined with the new investment in Birchwood Park, will secure the area鈥檚 status as a world-class nuclear hub and opportunities for local talent. We look forward to making the integration process as smooth as possible for our teams and are excited to develop together as a business that is even better equipped to solve the problems of the future.鈥

Jacobs said the acquisition expands Jacobs鈥 海角视频 employee base to nearly 11,000 and increases access to specialist talent 鈥 particularly in locations across Cheshire and Cumbria, as well as expanded reach into Europe, Japan, Middle East, South Africa and the U.S.
With $13bn in revenue and a talent force of more than 55,000, Jacobs offers services including consulting, technical, scientific and project delivery for the government and private sector.
Integration of the two businesses will, Jacobs says, "unite common cultures and qualities" to create an environment "where all employees can thrive".
It comes after Wood PLC received clearance from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to sell its nuclear business to Jacobs.
The Aberdeen-based engineering giant's proposed deal worth 拢250m had been under scrutiny by the watchdog,.
The sale to the American group, which was agreed last August, is intended to help Wood slash its debts, .
Wood's nuclear business holds major contracts involving the decommissioning of Dounreay in Caithness and Sellafield. It took on much of the nuclear business with the acquisition of Amec Foster Wheeler in 2017.
