A major North East industrial hub dubbed ‘nationally significant’ by the º£½ÇÊÓƵ Government has reached a major milestone.

All of the developable land brought to market through the first phase of the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP One) has now been snapped up, with work set to progress on the development of phase two.

One of the biggest live schemes in the country, the IAMP spans 370 acres and will hopefully create more than 7,000 new jobs over the next 10 to 15 years.

The project is a joint venture between Sunderland City Council and South Tyneside Council, with HBD appointed as development partner.

A total of more than 1.7m sq ft of floor space has now been taken up at the 150-hectare manufacturing park, and phase two is set to bring forward a further 2.25m sq ft of prime industrial space to the market.

Since work completed on phase one of IAMP in November 2020, the development has proved an attractive proposition, with manufacturing giants such as SNOP º£½ÇÊÓƵ and Faltec already on-site. Envision AESC is also set to arrive too, after securing planning consent for the construction of a £450m gigafactory battery plant.

Coun Tracey Dixon, leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “It has been a real joint effort by Sunderland City Council and South Tyneside Council to bring IAMP to life over the past few years and we are absolutely thrilled with how the development has been received so far.
