After a career creating dream homes around the 海角视频 and across the world the pull of family life saw a husband and wife team settle in North Wales.

Architectural designer Glenn Cavill has spent more than 15 years working for leading practices - taking on projects as diverse as London townhouses to beach front homes in Thailand.

But five years ago Glenn and his wife Lisa, the firm鈥檚 creative designer, came to live in North Wales after having their first child, and now live in Llandyrnog.

It hasn鈥檛 stopped them being able to work globally - thanks to technology - and with London two and a half hours by train Glenn likes to smash the myth that the region is in the 鈥渂ack of beyond鈥.

However it has meant seeking out local projects and in an area like North Wales, where word of mouth matters, this has seen then secure more and more work on their doorstep.

Glenn, 39, said: 鈥淲hen we had our first daughter we wanted to come closer to family.

鈥淢y wife spent her early childhood here and her family had settled in North Wales so we decided it was time to move here.

鈥淲e wanted to find the right balance between work and family life and we have done that.

鈥淭his is why we have wanted to focus on the local area, rather than always be travelling all over the 海角视频.

鈥淏ut with technology you can work anywhere.

鈥淲e work with a US company where they send their brief at the end of the day in America - we can turn around drawings while they are asleep and they are there for them the next day.

鈥淛ust because of where we are does not limit where we can work.

鈥淎lso there is this idea from people who don鈥檛 know the area that it is the 鈥榖ack of beyond鈥 but this isn鈥檛 the case.

鈥淚 can get to the centre of London on the train in two and half hours.

鈥淭his is a very good place to live and to work.鈥

While the capability to work nationally and internationally has not changed - they are keen to build up their local portfolio.

He added: 鈥淲e are aiming to bring this family run business approach and international wealth of design experience into our growing local projects across North Wales.

鈥淲e work on varied size projects from extensions and alterations to large one off houses - plus commercial, tourism and local developer projects.

鈥淲e provide a very personal service where we are part of the whole process working closely with clients guiding them through all processes of design and building.鈥

They work well together, combining their skills, as Lisa studied Fine Art at university and went into interior design.

Glenn, who grew up near Leeds, said: 鈥淲e get the plans out and sit there bouncing ideas off each other - we complement each other really well and work together to design layouts. With both our skills we can we can design a house, inside and out.

鈥淚t is not just about creating a Grand Designs style house, it has to be something that works for people, that makes their lives easier.

鈥淲e are bringing the experience we have from working all over the country.

鈥淲e do want to grow the business but we don鈥檛 want to create something massive, we don鈥檛 want to lose the balance we have now between work and family.

鈥淲e already work with local technicians and in the future do hope to bring in one or two staff.鈥

He added: 鈥淲e have some very exciting projects on the horizon over next year which includes some home extensions and alterations, one-off houses and green tourism projects.

鈥淎s a business we wish to create projects that reflect the varied landscapes of wales from hillside homes to beachside houses, incorporating suitable sustainable approaches and working with local developers, contractors and material manufacturers and suppliers.鈥
