Humber's Net Zero potential opened to international investors with new platform

Place marketeers build 'vibrant online resource that showcases the region as an irresistible magnet for investment'

A new platform to showcase the Humber’s pioneering role in Net Zero has been launched.

The investor-focused online resource pulls together 14 initial projects, with hunger for more, to satisfy demand from those clamouring to play a part in the world-leading ambition.

Brought forward by Marketing Humber, the place marketing agency backed by businesses in the region, The Humber: An Innovation and Investment Hot Spot, is a digital asset detailing what is being developed and delivered.

Bill Walker, chair, said: “The Humber - the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s Energy Estuary - has a critical role to play as we transition to a Net Zero future. We have the experience, the infrastructure, business assets, expertise and research and development capability required to deliver on the Prime Minister’s 10 point plan.

“We’re in pole position to capitalise on this over the coming years and indeed we are already making great progress with fantastic recent announcements in our favour in areas including carbon capture, storage and utilisation; offshore wind; building our hydrogen capabilities; freeports and more besides.”

Explaining the need for the , with a backdrop of the economic entity’s local enterprise partnership demise, he said it would help transform the region’s profile and economy, and was aimed at high-level investors, while informing and inspiring key decision-makers and influencers, including MPs, think tanks, trade bodies and strategic partners.

“Ever since the sensational success of the inaugural Waterline Summit in 2019, Marketing Humber has had international clean growth investors all asking us the same thing, could we showcase the Humber’s compelling credentials and even more importantly for them, specific investable projects, in clean growth and decarbonisation to highlight the Humber as a world-leading region ripe for major investment,” Mr Walker said.

Interest continued to an extent where an entire day was devoted to international investors when Waterline went online in 2020, with Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey addressing.
