Hull prepares to welcome major conference - on the conference sector

º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Ireland chapter of the International Congress and Convention Association is coming to the city

Hull City of Culture.

The º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s congress and convention sector will meet in Hull this week to discuss ‘Moving Forwards – Dare to be Different’.

The two-day International Congress and Convention Association º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Ireland Chapter Annual Conference will take place in the city from Thursday - the first live event since the pandemic.

Diane Waldron, chair, said: “We last all got together for our ICCA º£½ÇÊÓÆµ & Ireland Annual Conference in March 2020 in Wales, literally just a day or two before the first lockdown. We are very excited to once again be meeting our industry colleagues in person in Hull.”

Held principally at The Guildhall, it will discuss and explore various themes, including equality, diversity, inclusion and sustainability. As well as hosting, Hull will also be a focus.

Jacqui Gay, from the economic development and regeneration team at Hull City Council will present on 'Taking Hull from Crap Town to City of Culture' - with a perspective of what’s next regarding social and community legacy.

Katy Duke, chief executive at The Deep and Hull Conference Ambassador, and Professor Mark Lorch, Professor of Science Communication at the University of Hull, who brought the British Science Festival to Hull in 2018, will also address.

Councillor Daren Hale, leader of Hull City Council, will open the conference.
