Hugo Boss returns as Mailbox Birmingham lets two-thirds of space

The German brand has agreed a lease on a 3,000 sq ft store at the redeveloped shopping destination

 

Hugo Boss is making a return to the Mailbox after the prestige brand became the latest to sign up to the .

The German brand has agreed a lease on a 3,000 sq ft store at the redeveloped shopping destination, following in the footsteps of Emporio Armani, LK Bennett, Jaeger and Gieves and Hawkes.

The new store will open next year following the launch of the following a £50 million redevelopment which has included adding a new roof.

The Mailbox expects 500 additional jobs to be created when the development is completed, including at a signature Harvey Nichols store stretched across 45,000 sq ft.

It is part of a as it will open ahead of the Grand Central development at New Street station and the giant new John Lewis.

Melanie Taylor, head of leasing at Milligan, development partner and joint owner of the Mailbox, said demand had been strong for space.

She said: “We are making great progress on the leasing side, and the exciting mix of retailers continues to set the bar high. With the refurbishment gearing up to completion we’ll soon be releasing the names of more high-profile luxury brands who have signed up to the scheme.”

The redevelopment represented the first major move by Brockton and Milligan since taking over the Mailbox for £127.1 million from Birmingham Development Company 2013.
