Housebuilder Barratt will launch developments bringing 643 new homes to the Humber region this year.

Two schemes in Beverley and a third in New Waltham represent an £89 million investment, with nearly 500 construction jobs to be supported.

The East Yorkshire market town will see 404 homes added off Woodmansey Mile, with the Queens Court development bringing forward 280 units, and the David Wilson Homes’ branded Minster View adding 124.

On the South Bank it will start on the 16.3 acre site at Toll Bar Roundabout, off Station Road. A total of 239 homes will form Wigmore Park.

As part of the approved plans, Barratt Developments will also contribute £1 million to the enhancement of education, highways, and open spaces for the local community.

Daniel Smith, managing director of the five-star rated Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to contribute to the local economy in and around Beverley, Grimsby and New Waltham as well as support a wealth of jobs across the region. We are committed to investing in and supporting our local tradesmen, and look forward to working with them over the next 12 months to build even more quality homes.”

During 2020 alone, Barratt built 494 new homes across the region.

It comes as progress appears to be being made on a strategic plan to expand Grimsby’s western aspect, with 3,800 homes proposed.
