takes longer in the West Midlands than any other º£½ÇÊÓƵ region, according to a new report.

Researchers claim West Midlands homeowners take 11-and-a-half weeks to go through transactions and move into their new house – almost doubt the time it takes in Scotland.

The research was carried out by removals company Bishop’s Move who surveyed 1,000 people across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ about the house buying process.

Compared to more than 11 weeks in this region, researchers found it takes an average of six weeks in Scotland and nine weeks in the South West.

Only East Anglia rivals the West Midlands figures as the process also takes an average of 11.5 weeks there.

Chris Marshall, sales and marketing director at Bishop’s Move comments: “It comes as a surprise to see transactions taking so long across the West Midlands region, particular the 14 per cent who took between 16 to 18 weeks.

“Throughout the course of 2014 we saw a significant improvement in terms of enquires throughout our network, particularly in the South East of England. It will be interesting to see these figures again later in 2015 when the property market starts its tradition post-General Election boost.”

Of those surveyed, 26 per cent in the West Midlands said it took them between 10 and 12 weeks to complete a move and 16 per cent said it took them between 13 and 15 weeks. A total of 14 per cent said it took them between 16 and 18 weeks – more than double the amount in Yorkshire.
