Hitachi 'discussions' over future of Wylfa as 'several parties' interested in Anglesey site

Hitachi is "coordinating with other parties" over the future of Wylfa as hopes grow that another consortium will take on the £16bn project.

Horizon said on Tuesday that there were "several parties" interested but funding remained the crux of the matter.

Now Hitachi has told Business Live it was "continuing to coordinate with other parties" on the future of the site.

They added they were also continuing to work closely with º£½ÇÊÓÆµ Government.

They said that they could not comment on the "specifics of discussions" or the process of any potential sale at this stage.

In 2012 Hitachi took over Horizon Nuclear Power from German utilities E.ON and RWE in a deal for £696m - taking the Wylfa site and Oldbury in Gloucestershire. Westinghouse were among the rival bidders in that process.
