A new video released by Hinkley Point C shows the building progress of the Somerset nuclear power station.
The footage has been published as preparations are made to lift the domed roof onto the second reactor building.
According to EDF, the French energy giant that owns the project, the construction of Unit 1鈥檚 buildings is almost complete, as the installation of equipment accelerates inside.
The second unit, which was stopped during the pandemic, is catching up with its 245-tonne dome due to be lifted over the summer. It will then move into its fit-out phase.
EDF said progress had been helped by a transformation in the way the power station is being built. More factories on and off site mean larger pieces are being lifted into place such as the 170-tonne staircase 'megalift' or using crane 'Big Carl' to lift in completed rooms in one piece.
Stuart Crooks, chief executive of Hinkley Point C, said: 鈥淧refabrication and modular construction are transforming the way we build the power station, with big gains for our second identical unit.
"The innovation and experience we are developing at Hinkley Point C will benefit our twin project at Sizewell C from the start.
鈥淲e have trained a new workforce and built the nuclear supply chain. Now those skilled workers and businesses can give Britain the energy security and economic growth it needs at Sizewell C, together with Small Modular Reactors and future large nuclear plants.鈥
The news comes nearly a month after the 海角视频's nuclear watchdog issued a warning to Hinkley Point C's main contractor over safety failings with cranes on the Bridgwater site.
The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) served an improvement notice on NNB Generation Company (HPC) Ltd (NNB GenCo) relating to the monitoring and management of tower cranes.
The enforcement action related to the failure of components on a crane, identified by an operator undertaking pre-use checks on site in February.
Hinkley Point C is expected to provide six million homes in the 海角视频 with low-carbon energy once complete. But the project has been plagued with problems since construction began in 2016.
The scheme was originally estimated to cost 拢18bn to build, but has struggled with its schedule and last year EDF confirmed its .
