Health business Total Innovations Europe Ltd has become the first to move into Plymouth Science Park after it was named as a £1m regional centre of health technology excellence.

Total Innovations Europe Ltd, established in 2014, provides business innovation and support to manufacturers, suppliers and providers in the health and social care sectors, helping businesses working in diagnosis, therapeutics or medical devices to realise efficiencies and boost business growth.

The firm’s move to the Plymouth Science Park (PSP) comes just weeks after it was revealed a regional centre of health technology excellence will be developed there following a successful bid for £1.03m to the Heart of the South West LEP’s Getting Building Fund by PSP in partnership with the University of Plymouth, Plymouth City Council, and private sector partner Renishaw.

Building on existing capabilities in the region, the Health Technology Innovation Hub (HTIH) will enable the creation of 107 jobs and support 119 businesses.

The facility, which is set to be completed by March 2025, will deliver a regional centre of excellence to incubate health technology businesses and accelerate new health technology developments in the wider healthcare sector.

Located at PSP, the funding will see existing office space at the park refurbished, as well as the creation of new facilities for early-stage laboratory-based businesses, including lab space, single-user incubation labs, clean rooms, and specialist 3D printing facilities for rapid prototyping in a range of materials, including plastics and surgical grade metals.

These advanced facilities will provide healthcare and technology businesses with access to integrated health research and innovation, which will provide new, sustainable solutions to some of the healthcare challenges of the 21st century, and support significant economic growth potential for the region.

Meanwhile, the move to Plymouth Science Park will enable Total Innovations Europe to work with regional universities and businesses already established in the region, as well as new businesses supported by the HTIH.
