Handmade Burger Company secures £600k to support Grand Central launch

Finance Birmingham backs burger business founded in Birmingham in 2006 to open third outlet in the city

Restaurant chain Handmade Burger Company has secured £600,000 in investment to support the launch of its new outlet at in Birmingham.

The company, which was founded in 2006 in Brindleyplace, is in September which is expected to create 19 jobs.

It has received the injection of capital from Finance Birmingham for the fit-out of its new Grand Central venue, which will be its largest with 200 seats, and refurbishment of its sites in Brindleyplace and Touchwood in Solihull.

The company now has 23 restaurants open across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, including in the Bullring, and employs more than 200 staff.

Chris Sargeant, who founded the firm with his two brothers, said: "As a business, our ambitions were first brought to life in Birmingham so it is fitting that our growth continues to be fuelled by the city that has long supported us.

"Finance Birmingham took the time to understand our business, growth plans and the speed at which our industry moves."

Clive Broadhurst, investment director at Finance Birmingham, added: "Handmade Burger Company is a true example of how the Midlands creates and supports entrepreneurial businesses.

"From a single family-run restaurant, the company has grown to a national brand with an incredibly loyal following.
